This is a critical role focused on overseeing quality assurance and control in a manufacturing environment where welding and fabrication are central to operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing welding quality systems to standards such as BS EN ISO 1090 / 3834, and the ability to lead quality initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards.
- Oversee the welding and fabrication quality processes, ensuring compliance with BS EN ISO 1090 / 3834.
- Drive quality improvements across manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on welding and fabrication.
- Lead internal and external audits and maintain certifications related to welding and fabrication quality.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize welding processes and address quality issues.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean and Six Sigma.
- Manage and mentor the quality team, fostering a culture of quality excellence.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure the quality of materials, especially those related to welding and fabrication.
What You'll Bring:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in quality management, with a focus on welding, fabrication, and manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, including ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 1090 / 3834.
- Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies, such as FMEA, RCA, SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Proven track record in conducting audits and ensuring compliance with welding and fabrication standards.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools like Minitab, SAP, or similar.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
- Certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, FDA regulations, or other specialized industry standards.
- Knowledge of environmental and health & safety management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
